Designed for builders of autonomous systems.
The AEGIS API is being designed in the open. The design is readable today. No public API or SDK exists yet, so nothing on this page can be installed.
Example code
Authority is an API object.
You request the authority a task should have. If an action exceeds it, you get a typed result rather than a surprise.
- Agents have versions
- A version pins instructions, route and tools. Runs pin a version.
- Objectives become plans
- A plan is stored data, validated before any step runs.
- Steps hold Mandates
- Each step has explicit authority, narrower than its parent's.
- Actions get decisions
- Every tool call receives allow, require_approval or deny.
# API design preview. This package is not published.
from aegis import Aegis, PolicyDenied
client = Aegis()
run = client.tasks.create(
agent="invoice-review@4",
objective="Review overdue vendor invoices",
mandate={
"tools": ["records.search", "ap.schedule_payment"],
"unattended_limit_usd": 5000,
"expires_in": "24h",
},
)
try:
result = run.wait()
except PolicyDenied as denied:
# A denial is a typed result you can handle in code.
print(denied.reason) # vendor_not_in_masterAPI overview
One REST design.
Everything the console does goes through this API. A sample of the proposed resources:
/v1/agentsStable agent identities
/v1/tasksSubmit an objective with a requested Mandate
/v1/executionsRuns and control
/v1/mandatesInspect and simulate authority
/v1/toolsTool definitions
/v1/policiesPolicy as code
/v1/approvalsHuman queue
/v1/tracesRead model of runs
Integration architecture
What connects where.
Your application talks to the control API. Your tools are called by the gateway. Your models are reached with your keys.
- Your codeSDK or RESTSubmit tasks, read events
- AEGISControl API and workersPlans, steps, record
- AEGISGateway and GuardThe only way out
- YoursModel providers, HTTP tools, MCP serversYour keys, your systems
